We helped St. Anthony’s Church remain faithful - Revolution Roofing media release (SA & WA)

The church in Edwardstown had a devil of a time finding a replacement for their asbestos roof that adhered religiously to the original design.

The Project/Brief
Originally the corrugated skillion roof was topped with 6” deep profile asbestos. The brief for the project was to remove and roof the current building without compromising the unique design and vision of the original architect of the building Kevin Curtin, Principal of Kevin J Curtin & Partners.

Kevin was a notable Australian architects with a career that spanned over four decades. His affiliation with the Catholic Church led to commissions for more than 50 new churches and chapels and over 200 school projects. For these contributions, he was awarded a Papal Medal.

The Answer
The True Oak ‘Super 5’ Corrugated profile from Revolution Roofing was the perfect choice when re-roofing the St Anthony’s church as its 121mm by 35mm large scale corrugations bring a sense of scale to large commercial projects. The True Oak ‘Super 5’ profile is Revolution’s contemporary cousin to the original deep 6” asbestos profile of corrugated roofing. This exclusive new profile from Revolution Roofing is 60% deeper and 100% stronger than standard Corrugated.

When choosing the roof for the Church upgrade retaining the original roofscape and the large scale corrugations was a primary factor for The Catholic Church, the builder, J K Ramage Builders and the Roofer, Quality Roofing. The 6 inch corrugations of the asbestos profile perfectly suited the project and the challenge was to find a similar product in the market that allows the clean lines of the corrugations without the implications of asbestos. The True Oak ‘Super 5’ profile allowed a seamless transfer from asbestos to True Oak ‘Super 5’.

To coincide with the launch of the True Oak series of profiles, BlueScope Steel has launched a new semi-metallic colour ‘Cordite Grey’ in the style of the original graphite micaceous paints. This unique new colour was used on the St Anthony’s Roof.

The St Anthony’s Church also received Revolution’s exclusive True Oak 20 Year Watertight Installation Guarantee. This back to back material and corrosion warranty is available only when the product is installed by a Revolution Roofing Licensed Contractor and is one of a kind when it comes to pierced fix roofing.
